Shear Bands form in almost all materials under high strain rate loading conditions, and in irradiated materials subjected to mechanical deformation. They are very serious, because materials may fail in an unexpected and brittle-like manner. The illustrations here will enable us to understand how Shear Bands form under these conditions, in the hope that we would be able to control the localized nature of their plastic deformation.
