New MSDNAA Access
On July 1st, students and faculty eligible to download MSDNAA software
will do so using Courseweb.seas.ucla.edu. You may login to Courseweb
using your BOL login ID or SEASnet account. Once you have logged in,
click on "My Courseweb" and look for the "Software Download" link.
From there you will be taken to the familiar MSDNAA software menu.
Clicking on the appropriate link will take you directly to Microsoft's
download program and to available software. For questions or
assistance using this new process, please email msdnaa-admin@seas.ucla.edu.

New Microsoft Offering
Microsoft has launched a new offering for university and high
school students called "DreamSpark". Software and training are
offered at no cost to students. In order to take advantage of
DreamSpark, create a "Windows Live" account using your Bruin
OnLine email address and then login to the "DreamSpark" website.
"DreamSpark" is only available to students at UCLA. Also,
SEASnet does not offer support for this program. All questions
regarding "DreamSpark" should be directed to the "DreamSpark"
support page of their website.

UCLA's Software Central Academic Pricing
UCLA departments and faculty can obtain software from UCLA Software
Central for up to 92% less than standard academic pricing. Please
check with Software Central first when you need to acquire software.

Campus Anti-Virus Program (Sophos) End-of-Life Notification
Sophos has notified campus that December 31, 2008 is their
end-of-life date for supporting Sophos Anti-Virus for
Windows 95/98/NT. Campus has negotiated with Sophos to obtain
a one year extension of this date, so UCLA will continue to
have this coverage through December 31, 2009. Users of these
software systems will need to uninstall Sophos, upgrade their
systems, and install the new version prior to the December
31, 2009 deadline to ensure the machine meets UCLA Policy
401: Minimum Security Standards for Network Devices.

Email Account Phishing Scams
Please be aware that the University is being subjected to
multiple user account "phishing" scams. These phishing
scams arrive in your email inbox asking you to respond to
the message with your private logon information.
BOL and SEASnet will NEVER ask you for your password either
in writing or over the phone.
If you did reply to an email with your private logon
information, you should immediately change your password
and then contact the helpdesk.
