General Information on the CS111/SEASnet Linux Lab

SEASnet maintains one linux lab. Each machine in the linux lab has two partitions. A SEASnet lab partition, and a CS111 partition. Any user can login to either partition using their SEASnet username and password which automatically mounts their home directory using samba.

Although anyone with a SEASnet account can login to the CS111 partition, only students enrolled in CS111 will be given the necessary access to complete their class assignments. As with all SEASnet labs, users needing to do course work have priority over those users just browsing the internet, reading email, etc.

Problems with Mozilla Browser

In order for users to keep their profiles from growing extremely large and causing issues with a student's disk quota, users should set the default cache size. SEASnet recommends setting it to 5MB or lower. To set Mozilla's cache size:

CS111 User Agreement

In addition to the SEASnet User Agreement, Campus Policies, and SEASnet Lab Policies, when a CS111 student logs onto the CS111 partition they are also agreeing to the following:

I understand that as a CS111 student I have been granted additional access to the CS111 partition in the SEASnet linux lab in 4405 BH. By logging onto these machines, I agree to follow the instructions provided by my instructor and TA to ensure that the SEASnet linux partition remains as configured by SEASnet.

I understand that my failure to abide by this agreement may result in the loss of my SEASnet account and/or further disciplinary action by the Engineering Dean of Students.
