Using your class account
-
SEASnet policies and guidelines for account and machine usage have precedence.
-
You will be contacted via your class e-mail account in case of rescheduling,
urgent corrections, homework hints, etc. Read your e-mail frequently,
daily if possible.
-
If you already receive e-mail at any other internet address, make a file
".forward"
in your home directory (AKA your login directory, can be reached by `cd'
or `cd ~'). This file contains only the address of the account where
you choose to receive your mail.
- Example: contents of .forward:
joeslurp@oac.ucla.edu
And that's it, any message sent to your class account is immediately forwarded to your preferred site.
-
To browse the entire world (from sovereignty claims in Antarctica to
traffic speeds throught the Sepulveda Pass to cheesy homepages for a
whole bunch of people to the archives of the Soviet Union)
you can access a
whole-planet directory.
