3.	Grading

	30% - programming assignments (4-5)
	    - programs must compile on SEASNET C/C++ compiler
	30% - mid-term exam
	40% - final exam

4.	Textbook: Any book on C/C++ will suffice. (few on reserve at EMS)
	- look for lots of illustrations/examples/pictures
	- preferences by anyone?

	Good references are:
	- Deitel & Deitel: C++ How to Program, 2/e, Prentice Hall 1998
	- S. B. Lippman: C++ Primer, 2/e, Addison Wesley, 1991
	- B. Stroustrup: The C++ Programming Language, 3/e, Addison Wesley, 1997
	- Sobell: A Practical Guide to the UNIX System, Benjamin/Cummings
	- K.Rosen: UNIX System V Release 4 - An Introduction, 2/e, McGraw Hill

Computer accounts 

1.	Use your SEASnet student account

	- apply for one at 2567 BH
	- special class account created for non-SEAS people

	- programs will be submitted on floppy disk

2.	Computer resources

	- 4442 BH ==> PC's (also another lab on that same floor...east side 
                            of building)
	- 6270 BH ==> X-Stations
	- 33-128 E4 ==> X-Stations and Macs
	- 3760 BH ==> PC's (may be used for discussion sections)

  	- Assistance available through computer proctors in 4442 BH. 
          (orange vests)

	- access available via modem (BOL or SEASnet pool)

	- labs are NOT 24 hours...also tend to be very crowded during school 
          year...so work ahead of deadlines...

	- 1st discussion section will cover login procedures. (as well as a 
          sample C program)
