What is EE 5C?

EE 5C is entitled "Intro to UNIX and C" in the UCLA course catalog. It is designed to be an introductory course to the UNIX operating system and C/C++ programming. We have extended the course since Fall 1997 so that it covers the basics of C++ and object oriented programming in addition to the traditional modular programming approach in order to cope with the latest trend in the development of computer programming languages. However, the C/C++ programming language is very comprehensive and requires me to teach the material at a somewhat "accelerated" pace, in order for to maximize future use of the language. Therefore, the student should be prepared for this. If it were up to me, I would stretch out the instruction over two quarters, but that's not possible.
