RESEARCH INTERESTS

My research program focuses on the study and improvement of membrane-based technologies for water desalination and purification.  We utilize chemical and environmental engineering fundamentals to understand practical water quality problems, to improve existing water treatment technologies, and to develop new water treatment technologies.  Our research group pursues both fundamental and applied research related to the burgeoning area of membrane-based water treatment.  In addition, membrane-based sensing systems are also being considered.  Our strategy relies upon a balanced emphasis on three complementary areas of membrane research:

·          Environmental Colloidal Science and Nanotechnology

·          Formation and Application of Water Treatment Membranes

·          Understanding Transport and Interfacial Phenomena
