Research Overview

 

Water is crucial for human beings not only for = human consumption, agriculture, and industry, but also for military, homeland security, and space-exploration activities. As drinking water quality and wastewater discharge/reuse standards become more stringent and the populati= on expands, providing safe drinking water will continue to be a critical global issue to ensure sustainability. In addition to the public health need for adequate drinking water, there are economic development implications. Membr= anes can offer flexible and economical water treatment systems and currently there is a strong focus on the role of membrane-based separati= on processes for safer water supplies, advanced wastewater treatment, and reclamation of alternative water sources.

 

My research at UCLA focuses on developing advan= ced materials for water purification systems. The principle objective of my cur= rent research is to develop novel materials to improve membrane-based separation processes for potable water production, wastewater treatment, and reclamation of alternative water sources.
