Adding a 3rd column to a homepage with 2 columns

This tutorial is specifically for the homepages that have 2 columns (Latest News and Upcoming Events). All departmental websites have this format. Sometime there is a need to temporary or permanently add a 3rd column. Usually this 3rd column can be temporary used for an important happening, such as faculty recruitment.

The following steps will add the 3rd column and make it be the 1st column, thereby shifting the existing 2 columns to the right.

  1. Login to Wordpress
  2. Go to the homepage.
  3. Click "Edit Page" in the black bar at the top.
  4. Follow this video.
  5. View the homepage.
  6. When the 3rd column needs to be removed, follow this video.
Note: You can place the 3rd column in any column (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) by draging the existing columns into the desired column.
