Chi Epsilon Preamble
We, students, faculty, and alumni of the Departments of Civil and Environmental Engineering at various colleges and universities, believing that a mark of distinction should be placed on the undergraduate who has upheld the honor of the department by high scholastic ability, and believing that a society with the broad principles of scholarship, character, practicality, and sociability would be an incentive to greater achievements in the civil engineering profession, do adopt this constitution as a guiding instrument for this organization.
UCLA Chapter
The UCLA Chapter of Chi Epsilon holds initiation proceedings once per academic year for distinguished students of UCLA's Henri Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Students who have completed many of the preparatory and introductory courses of the civil engineering major and who are either in the top 15% of students with junior standing or in the top 20% of students with senior standing are invited to become initiates of our chapter. In addition to the academic requirements, we also have mandatory community service projects that must be completed before a student is eligible for initiation.
Chapter Objectives
UCLA's Chi Epsilon is primarily a service organization. We have at least one quarterly community service project providing all of our members with the opportunity to work in the Los Angeles community. Past service projects have included working with Inner Warmth, Habitat for Humanity, and the Los Angeles Food Bank. In addition, we organize review sessions for the spring E.I.T./FE Exam.
