Chemical Bath Deposition of CdS on III-V Nanopillar Array Solar Cells

[research]

Chemical bath deposition (CBD) of CdS on III-V nanopillar solar cell devices are investigated in this project. CBD of CdS have been shown previously on planar substrates to provide a cheap and fast way to form pn junctions for thin film solar cell work. Here we use the deposition of CdS on III-V semiconductor (GaAs and InP) self-aligned nanopillar arrays. The intrinsically n-type CdS forms a radial junction around the p-doped nanopillars. Uniform coverage on the nanopillar arrays is shown by SEM. The final device has a back Cr/Au contact and top ITO transparent contact. IV, EQE, CV measurements are carried out to evaluate the efficiencies of these II-VI on III-V solar cell devices.
